Watchguard acquires CyGlass

WatchGuard have announced that they have acquired CyGlass in a bold move to add NDR capabilities to their platform and thus expand their market. Setting them on a path to accelerate their Open eXtended Detection and Response (Open XDR) capabilities within ThreatSync. The deal, signed and closed on September 19, 2023 sees CyGlass, a leading provider of Cloud and network-centric threat detection and response solutions become a part of Watchguards suite to help organizations see risks, stop threats, and prove compliance. The CyGlass unique 100% Cloud-native platform utilizes advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capabilities to deliver enterprise-class cyber defense across hybrid networks, to midsized and small organizations at an affordable cost and without hardware.

CyGlass mirrors a key tenet of WatchGuard’s mission, which is to make enterprise grade security more accessible to all customers. Other NDR products commonly rely on expensive hardware and experienced security analysts to manage the solutions, meaning that only larger enterprise businesses could deploy it. CyGlass’s product and approach is different, as a fully Cloud-based solution, it enables mid-sized enterprises and MSPs to provide NDR capabilities at a very reasonable cost of ownership.

The immediate focus of the combined company is on technology integration into the WatchGuard platform and support for current CyGlass customers and partners with existing CyGlass solutions. When integrated into WatchGuard’s platform, customers and partners will benefit from the latest security advances to keep network attacks at bay, enhanced XDR insights and actions with telemetry from 3rd-party devices including switches, and easier regulatory and cyber-insurance compliance with powerful built-in reports.
